My dad died early Sunday morning, June 4, 2006. He was on his way home from Litchfield where my mom, my aunt and I were vacationing. While I made it home two hours after the accident (I passed the wreck site, but never saw a thing or knew the wreck happened), my dad did not. He was driving his "toy" (convertible T-bird) and drove off the right side of the road, lost control of the car, hit a ditch, flipped over and rested on its top. My dad died at the scene.

It will be hard to live my life without seeing his smile, hearing his laugh, making jokes back and forth. It will be tough not to see him enter a room, dressed like a million bucks, almost regal. My dad was my biggest fan and the support he gave me was amazing. He had a way to make me -- and everyone he touched -- feel special and powerful. In his eyes, I could conquer the world.

There are no words I could use to express how much love and respect I have for my father. While I feel such a deep pain in my heart and a sense of monumental loss, I am comforted knowing that he is in a better place and he left us knowing how much my mother and I loved him and we knew his unconditional love for us.

God only knows why my dad was plucked from this earth at the pinnacle of his life, but there is something I do know ... he loved the Lord. He loved my mother, his best friend, his heart. He loved me. He loved his family, his friends and his work. I will always thank God for the time I did have with him and the memories I can cherish for a lifetime.
